Obama.....it aint over!!!!!

"They will throw everything at us like they've been doing, and we're gonna have to work like our future depends on it in this last week. You know what? Because it does, and every single young person here tonight -- I've gotta have every single one of you voting, and you've gotta grab five more, all of you, have gotta vote!"

You can vote however you like

Students of the Ron Clark Academy (Atlanta, GA) perform a political song supporting both presidential candidates.

Mccain, Palin, & the G.O.P Just Cut it Out!

Will There Be Another Political -"GORILLA GANGSTA" Tactic By the GOP this Election??

Well well....well... so its that time again? Every 4 yrs. in early Fall..... just as my favorite sport in the whole-wide world gets underway ...comes that day. The day when we get to go out and exercise our right to vote.

Now I can tell U from my point of view ....it definitely took me a while to realize the true importance of gettin out and actually VOTING! It didn't dawn on me when I was younger...the brutal struggles that Black people faced throughout the Civil Rights Movement (let alone before) in order for us to have the RIGHT 2 vote.

Moms used to always tell me ....boy u have no idea how hard we had to work and fight for this shit! For years ...I didn't care who ran for office because I knew it didn't benefit me...never had before ...so I figured why even bother? What I didn't realize is that ..while experiencing the bogus politics and bullshit policies from the likes of Ronald Reagan (R) (Reaganomics & Star Wars), & Daddy Bush (R) (Desert Storm) in the 80's, I welcomed Bill Clinton with open arms....even though he tried to play up to Blacks to try appear as cool and non-threatening to us. I mean u gotta admit ....when this dude was President shit seemed like "smooth sailing". You had a gang of jobs out there, a wide-open door to tha world of tha "Entrepreneur" - tha Master P's and the Puffy's of the world, shit ...u even had the transition and introduction for the choice of "Floss" - Gold.......flip to "Bling" - Platinum! More importantly or so it seemed to me (by now a Poli-Sci major in college..go figga?) -Clinton introduced the first "0 -Deficit" ever! I personally found that to be intriguing since the 2 candidates prior spent like there was no tomorrow.

Then after that 8 was over ...shit got real. George "mufuckin" Bush ...uh oh! Well, need I even highlight his illustrious career since its still so fresh on our minds?....still can't get rid of him fast enough. Anyway, all that to say ...I know ya'll remember what happened in 2000 and 2004 ... the deception, the lies, the cheating......"tha Gorilla Gangsta-ism" ...we must not allow that to happen again come "Supa Tuesday!" Ya'll see they gettin desperate... I wouldn't be surprised if they try some shit here next week, u know they're gonna pull out all tha stops! ....and when they do...... like 1 of my "all-time" favorite Public Enemy songs (Fight tha Power) says -"U Gotta Fight tha Powers that B!!" So.... do like ya boy did today...get out there and excercise your RIGHT...2 "BARACK THA VOTE!"

Matt Drudge/Drudge Report

Matthew Nathan Drudge (born October 27, 1966) is the American proprietor and editor of the Drudge Report, a conservative news aggregation website. Drudge was unknown before he began the Drudge Report. For many years, he took odd jobs such as night counterman at a 7-Eleven convenience store, telemarketer for Time/Life books, McDonald's manager, and sales assistant at a New York City grocery store. In 1989, he moved to Los Angeles where he took up residence in a small Hollywood apartment. He took a job in the gift shop of CBS studios, eventually working his way up to manager. It is here that he was apparently privy to some inside gossip, part of the inspiration for founding the Drudge Report. Worried about his son’s aimlessness, Drudge's father had insisted on buying him a Packard-Bell computer in 1994. The Drudge Report began as an e-mail sent out to a few friends. The original issues of the Drudge Report were part gossip and part opinion. They were distributed as an e-mail newsletter and posted to alt.showbiz.gossip Usenet forum where they were both loved and ridiculed. In 1996, the newsletter transitioned slowly from entertainment gossip to political gossip and moved from e-mail to the Web as its primary distribution mechanism.

My Philosophy

Everyone got a philosophy... some set of rules that they live by. No matter how crazy it may sound to others we find some way to justify our actions. Is a man considered guilty for what goes on in his mind? Well...I hope not....if so I would have served multiple life sentences. In college the life of Socrates always fascinated me...he appeared to be on some kool shit...but who schooled him? Well that's a no brainer.... Africa. Alexander was the pupil of Aristotle, who was the pupil of Plato, who was the pupil of Socrates. I guess all this talk about socialism and Marxism by the far right kinda got me thinkin. I once read a poem and it had a verse in it.... "you got your days of joy to your years of pain". That is some of the realest shit I every heard.

Back to Socrates....he spoke of how pain and pleasure are one in the same. You know when your body aches and when you massage it, it hurts and feels good at the same time. Or how the one you love the most can hurt you the most.

"Socrates has just had his legs removed from their fetters and remarks upon the pleasure of having them released from their bindings. Though pain and pleasure may seem opposites, he observes, and though we never experience both at the same time, they do seem intimately connected: rarely do we find one without the other. The pleasure at being released from his chains is directly related to the pain he experienced while still enchained".

The pain is living and the pleasure is life. I guess the moral of the story is that despite all the bullshit that we deal with on a daily basis we got to enjoy life....for one, life is too short....and tomorrow is not promised. So what is my philosophy? To live....to live....to live....and to let live....

Spike Lee Says Hip Hop Changed American Politics, Race Relations

"Rakim put me up on knowledge....Spike Lee made me want to go college...NWA I gotta thank ya....cause now in days rap is gansta...."

Author: Omar Burgess

With a body of work that includes Bamboozled, Jungle Fever and Do the Right Thing, Spike Lee has never been gun shy about voicing his opinion on race relations in America. When the Academy Award nominated director was asked about the "Bradley Effect" and how it relates to the upcoming presidential election, his candid answer gave credit to an unlikely source.

"I don't go with this Bradley Effect," Lee tells MSNBC's Joe Scarborough. "That was what, 1984? That's last century. America's made a seismic shift as far as race goes. These young white kids who grew up listening to Hip Hop don't have the same views that their parents and grandparents had. I think these polls aren't reaching these young white kids. There aren't enough African Americans in this country to get Obama elected. He took the Iowa caucus! There's two black people in Iowa...maybe three."

Author: Andres Tardio
Photo: Adero Dawson

Common's next album is already gaining serious buzz. Universal Mind Control is set to hit stores, and with talk of Neptunes production, Common's garnered the attention of many. But, Common's still thinking ahead. He's already saying that The Believer LP will be next.

"The Believer is definitely gonna be an album," he told MTV. "It's gonna be the next album. I was ready to make The Believer, then I started working on an EP called Invincible Summer [click to read]. Then I was like, 'OK, Universal Mind Control — that's the name of the single.' Like we said on the song, 'If you wanna dance, let's dance.' That's what that whole concept is like: Whatever you want the people to do, you create the music for them to do it."

As reported, Com's been working mostly with the Neptunes in an attempt to make party music. "Where I am with Universal Mind Control, which is the name of the album as well as the single, I wanted to make some music people can enjoy. It's a lot of stuff going on in the world right now. Sometimes people need to release. I felt that energy abroad, going to different parties in Spain and London, even back in the States. It was good times. I want people to have good times musically."

Universal Mind Control is set to be released in early December. He's also planning a tour for January.

"We read an interesting blog from 48Bars on a Stimulus/Bailout Proposal. They propose 1 million dollars for “Every Qualifying Citizen” of the US. By Golly This might work! It’s cheaper than the 700B and would get our economy rolling. Do the math. This was interesting. Can someone get this idea to Obama or Palin? - This would be a sure win to the White House."

Huey Percy Newton

Huey Percy Newton (February 17, 1942August 22, 1989), was co-founder and leader of the Black Panther Party for Self Defense, an African-American organization established to promote civil rights and self-defense.

Newton was born in Monroe, Louisiana to Amelia and Walter Newton, a sharecropper and Baptist minister; he was the youngest child in his family, and was named after Huey Long. Newton's family moved to Oakland, California when he was three. Despite completing his secondary education at Oakland Technical High School, Newton did not know how to read. During his course of self-study, he struggled to read Plato's Republic, which he understood after persistently reading it through five times. This success, he told an interviewer, was the spark that caused him to become a leader.[1]

Founding of the Black Panthers

While at Oakland City College, Newton had become actively involved in politics in the Bay Area. He joined the Afro-American Association, became a prominent member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Beta Tau chapter, and played a role in getting the first black history course adopted as part of the college's curriculum. He read the works of Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, Frantz Fanon, Malcolm X, Mao Zedong, and Che Guevara. It was during his time at Oakland City College that Newton, along with Bobby Seale, organized the Black Panther Party for Self Defense in October 1966. Seale assumed the role of Chairman, while Newton became Minister of Defense.

Blame game starts in G.O.P. (Grand Old Party)

Excerpts from: Blame game: G.O.P. forms circular firing squad:

In The Week, former Bush speechwriter David Frum wrote of McCain’s travails in a way that seemed to take defeat for granted and warned the GOP faces a long road back. “That’s not a failure of campaign tactics. It’s not even a failure of strategy. It’s a failure of the Republican Party and conservative movement to adapt to the times.”

Offered a chance to respond to the suggestion that the McCain campaign is awash in defeatism, a McCain official delivered a decidedly measured appraisal: “We have a real chance in Pennsylvania. We are in trouble in Colorado, Nevada and Virginia. We have lost Iowa and New Mexico. We are OK in Missouri, Ohio and Florida. Our voter intensity is good and we can match their buy dollar for dollar starting today till the election. It’s a long shot but it’s worth fighting for.”
Full Story

Who is David Plouffe?

If Obama is elected president he would arguably the most sought-after campaign manager in America. David Plouffe (born 1967) is the campaign manager for Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign in the United States. A long-time Democratic Party campaign consultant, he is a partner at the party-aligned campaign consulting firm AKP&D Message and Media, which he joined in 2000.

Plouffe is the campaign manager for Obama's 2008 presidential campaign. He is credited with the campaign's successful overall strategy in the race (primarily against Senator Hillary Clinton) for the Democratic Party presidential nomination, to focus on the first caucus in Iowa and on maximizing the number of pledged delegates, as opposed to focusing on states with primaries and the overall popular vote. He is also credited by The New Republic for Obama's success in the Iowa caucus and for crafting an overall strategy to prolong the primary past Super Tuesday. The Chicago Tribune writes, "Plouffe was the mastermind behind a winning strategy that looked well past Super Tuesday's contests on Feb. 5 and placed value on large and small states."Axelrod praised him: "... David Plouffe has done the most magnificent job of managing a campaign that I've seen in my life of watching presidential politics. To start something like this from scratch and build what we have built was a truly remarkable thing."

Plouffe also maintains discipline over communications in the campaign, including controlling leaks and releasing information about the campaign on its terms. Averse to publicity himself, Plouffe's control over the internal workings of the Obama campaign successfully avoided the publicly aired squabbles that frequently trouble other campaigns.

Stat Quo To Release "300-400" Unreleased Dr. Dre Tracks

Author: Paul W Arnold

The last time HipHopDX spoke to Atlanta emcee Stat Quo, in August 2007 [click to read] he was shifting gears from promoting the Dr. Dre-produced “Here We Go,” the intended first single from his long-delayed Shady/Aftermath Records debut, Statlanta, to putting his push behind the then recently leaked “G.R.I.T.S. (Girls Raised In The South),” following Interscope’s lack of support for “Here We Go” at radio.

While openly frustrated after having to wait at that point three-and-a-half years for a firm release date for his debut long-player, Stat was still a loyal Shady/Aftermath artist who appeared to be on the verge of finally being able to bask in the glow of his time to shine nationwide. Unfortunately, that moment appeared to be just that, a moment, as after a year of trying to pry himself from his deal with Dre, Stat finalized his release from the label within the past couple months. DX recently spoke with the southern spitter to find out what happened that led to his departure from arguably the most important Hip Hop label of the last decade, and what his plans are now for future releases, as well as the music he recorded over the past five years with the aid of Dr. Dre and Eminem.

The Isis Papers: The Keys to the Colors- Dr. Frances Cress Welsing

We now are nearing the final decade of the 20th century. Recently, there has been an unraveling and an analysis of the core issue of the first global power system of mass oppression-- the power system of racism (white supremacy). Once the collective victims (non-white population) understands this fundamental issue, the ultimate organizing of all of the appropriate behaviors necessary to neutralize the great injustice of the white supremacy power system will only be a matter of time. The length of time required to neutralize global white supremacy will be inversely proportional to 1) the level of understanding of the phenomenon; plus 2) the evolution of self- and group-respect, the will, determination and discipline to practice the appropriate counter-racist behaviors--on the part of the non-white victims of white supremacy."

Kanye Explains 808s And Heartbreak

Kanye:
He wrote... "I told the media you can't make up lies about me because I have a media outlet myself. Oh and sidebar I don't know if everyone has realized this yet but I don't do interviews if there's anything I wanna say I'll say right here on my own blog."

"I wanted people to take my words into their soul, and have it embedded it their life, spirit and energy," explains Kanye. "When I was a shorty, they taught us stuff with a melody, like the ABC's. So I'm about to express my stuff with melody. It's a fine line, where you don't know if it's rapping or what it is. It's just what's necessary at the time--what it feels like [and] what the beat makes me do."

"People heard 'Heartless' [click to listen] and thought it was safe," says Kanye. "They were like, 'Kanye's over here. It's all good now.' As you see, nobody's safe. I'm coming for the spot. It's a lot of people with number one spots right now, and I'm coming back for my spot. I'm not really playing right now. I think people might have thought I was playing games or just doing something real Avant-garde. But I'm coming to make the best music I can possibly make."

A Shout Out to EnkpeN Studios / The Art of Antone Ellison

Have u ever envisioned something in your minds eye that was so vivid and so surreal that your very first instinct was to find a writing utensil and immediately sketch out what it was that you had just drawn a mental picture of ..but then suddenly remembered that your craftsmanship as an artist is for shit?! Well, let me be the first to say ...Yo I can barely even draw a stick figure let alone a real piece of artwork.... my 4 year-old can out draw me. I'm lucky tho... I have the honor of not only knowing one of the illest artist in Atlanta, but I've been privileged to have some of his original pieces on our web page (48Bars logo)
-and on other projects as well. To all u "art buffs" out there in "arts ville" I present Antone Ellison -an avid hip hop connoisseur (like myself) and artiste' extraordinaire (unlike myself) whose print and graphic art designs have only begun to flourish. I first met the Cali native about 5-6 yrs back and was intrigued by his work right away. What was so captivating was how abstract the organix of his artwork is with an awesome attention to detail. It was for these reasons I quickly requested his input and assistance on anything visual that I would do. From tattoos, to logos, to album covers, to web page design ....I have always reached out to the homie Antone. While his plate is generally full juggling his newly released "EnkpeN Studios", his very own graphic design company "Ink Tribe Graphics", runnin his web site, working at a printing company, Antone still finds the time to do a gang of freelance working opportunities. Now that is truly a great example of dedication and hard work for the art form and his craft. I would urge anyone interested in my guys artwork to check out his sites he also has some of his pieces available to the public on "Deviant Art" (tag ~ego9579) web page. I'd like to close this art session on the WEST SIDE homie -Antone Ellison with a "classic" piece of hip hop quotable that I think sums up how best to describe my dudes works of ART......"Visualizing the realizm of life in Actuality!"

48BARS STIMULUS/BAILOUT PROPOSAL- ONE MILLION DOLLARS FOR EVERY CITIZEN OF THE U.S.

The board members of 48Bars was sitting at the round table and had a discussion about the current economical state of the the U.S. and the global economy. We discussed how American citizens are accumulating a massive amounts of debt, causes ranging from falling house prices, disappearing jobs, flat wages, lower benefits, and skyrocketing costs for the most important consumer items are quickly emptying the pockets of middle class America and bringing many families to the edge of financial ruin.

Before I begin I would like to give some statistics as indicated by the U.S. Census Bureau -the U.S. population is 305,404,776. If the United states really wanted to bailout the U.S. economy, 48Bars proposes that all citizens over the age of 21 who filed taxes for 2007 should received a stimulus check for $1,000,000 and provide a college education for every child in the U.S. Now this may sound crazy, but is it really? Just think about it...the congress just approved nearly 900 Billion dollars for ONE financial institution!

According to the Q1 2008 U.S. Foreclosure Market Report, which tracks foreclosure filings (including default notices, auction sale notices and bank repossessions), 649,917 properties were foreclosed upon during the first quarter of the year, a 23% increase from the previous quarter and a 112% increase from the first quarter of 2007. The report also shows that one (1) in every 194 U.S. households received a foreclosure filing during the quarter. Also In a stark indication that the crises gripping the US housing market and the financial sector are spreading throughout the economy, unemployment figures for -has rose hitting a five-year high.

Lastly, household debt averaged a record 133.7% of disposable income in the fourth quarter of 2007. In the fourth quarter of 2007, families spent 14.3% of their disposable income to service their debt, up from 13.0% in the first quarter of 2001.

By issuing an $1,000,000 stimulus check the U.S. citizens could pay off mortgages, credit cards, purchase health benefits, pay off medical bills, start new businesses and provide a decent education for all of our children. Now here at 48Bars we are the first to admit that we're not experts in economics but hey...can we jack things up more then what they are? In closing.... the problem I have with the Corporate Bailout Proposal that the Congress just passed is that I don't know the details, it is my strong belief that the government did not really wanted the American people to support the Bailout..... why isn't there a website to outline the details.

I think it is an insult to give "Main Street" a $600 stimulus check and in return we give "Wall Street" nearly 900 Billion!!!!!!!!!
(This article was written for entertainment purposes only...to spark a conversation and a interest in what's is going on around us, we're not politicians or economist...we are here to entertain)

Alaska panel finds Palin abused power in firing

By MATT APUZZO, Associated Press Writer
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Sarah Palin unlawfully abused her power as governor by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper, the chief investigator of an Alaska legislative panel concluded Friday. The politically charged inquiry imperiled her reputation as a reformer on John McCain's Republican ticket.

William Charles "Bill" Ayers

William Charles "Bill" Ayers (born 26 December 1944)[1] is an American elementary education theorist and former leading 1960s anti-war activist. He is known for the radical nature of his activism in the 1960s and 1970s as well as his current work in education reform, curriculum, and instruction. In 1969 he cofounded the radical left organization the Weather Underground, which conducted a campaign of bombing public buildings during the 1960s and 1970s. He is now a professor in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, holding the title of Distinguished Professor.

Before anyone cast judgement on this man please do your research (William Charles "Bill" Ayers ). To me it's ironic that the same ill philosophical views that Mr. Ayers was protesting against is being displayed at the McCain-Palin rallies. By no means am I condoning the acts that Mr. Ayers committed over 30 years ago, but some folks are acting as if America was perfect at that time. You see it's all B.S. to me, it amazes me that some people can always find away to justify their actions while ridiculing others. If Obama doesn't win this election it will be a clear indicator to where America is headed. May I remind you... if you study the Dynasties of Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, China, Rome, and so on...the average ruling span is between 200-300 years. America is going on 233.....will we continue to rule or fall? In the last days before the most historic presidential election of our time there will be a lot of right winged rhetoric towards Obama and the Democratic party. We will hear words referring to Obama such as "terrorist" and "socialist", to me it's the same as using the N word. This election has nothing to do with Bill Ayers it is a distraction! People keep your eyes on the prize and stay focus on the issues.

So last night was an absolute blast! .... some good ol' Alternative Rock and to top tha night off ...and outstanding Hip Hop set by one of the most timeless kats to do it...my hometown (Chi -that is 4 all who don't know) B-Boy representative Common. Comm is currently on his south-east segment of the tour promoting his new album "UNIVERSAL MIND CONTROL". Previously titled "Invincible Summer", Comm was initially slated to drop this past June but as you all know its already Fall....so, guess he has made the final last minute adjustments needed for the rapper's highly anticipated 8th album in a staggering 16+ yr careeer! Common never seems to disappoint fans during his live show performances...by now a seasoned vet in the art of "tha stage show" -Comm had a full set complete with an extended stage that went upstairs, a full bar and a club entrance. He even had like 7 or 8 female props to choose from (that's always nice). Always full of life, energy and animation -Comm Sense did his thang as usual catering to tha ladies with a dimly lit ambiance of the club scene for his more female appealing songs (completely feel u on that big homie) ......yet still found the must have time for all tha real Hip Hop headz runnin through classic joint after classic joint. Well done sir....and the night was definately enhanced to the next level as we got a glimpse into the alternative future of the Rock & Roll's peep hole......Janelle killed it.....N.E.R.D. murdered it.... very high energy performances from both left mufuckas laid out -shit I left exhausted!
Can't wait 4 tha album Rash...Luv 2 all...Deuces!

According to a recent Rasmussen Reports survey, 28% of Americans support the banker bailout plan and another 35% are not sure what to think. “Adding weight to the large number of undecideds is the finding that 82% of Americans are following the bailout story, including 44% who say they are following it very closely. Sixty-five percent (65%) say they are at least somewhat confident they understand the reasons why the plan is being proposed.”

John McCain was reprimanded by the bipartisan Senate Ethics Committee

The current economic crisis demands that we understand John McCain's attitudes about economic oversight and corporate influence in federal regulation. Nothing illustrates the danger of his approach more clearly than his central role in the savings and loan scandal of the late '80s and early '90s.

John McCain was accused of improperly aiding his political patron, Charles Keating, chairman of the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association. The bipartisan Senate Ethics Committee launched investigations and formally reprimanded Senator McCain for his role in the scandal -- the first such Senator to receive a major party nomination for president. At the heart of the scandal was Keating's Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which took advantage of deregulation in the 1980s to make risky investments with its depositors' money. McCain intervened on behalf of Charles Keating with federal regulators tasked with preventing banking fraud, and championed legislation to delay regulation of the savings and loan industry -- actions that allowed Keating to continue his fraud at an incredible cost to taxpayers.

When the savings and loan industry collapsed, Keating's failed company put taxpayers on the hook for $3.4 billion and more than 20,000 Americans lost their savings. John McCain was reprimanded by the bipartisan Senate Ethics Committee, but the ultimate cost of the crisis to American taxpayers reached more than $120 billion.

The Keating scandal is eerily similar to today's credit crisis, where a lack of regulation and cozy relationships between the financial industry and Congress has allowed banks to make risky loans and profit by bending the rules. And in both cases, John McCain's judgment and values have placed him on the wrong side of history.

Bun B Reveals The Impact Of Hurricane Ike In Letter

Andres Tardio
Hurricane Ike struck many people and the devastating consequences are still affecting them. For Texas' own Bun B of UGK, this struck close to home. The emcee recently created a report of sorts on the aftermath of Ike and the obstacles the victims and their communities still have to endure.

"Seven days after Hurricane Ike struck Texas on September 13, I finally got my power turned back on. I live in Houston, a big city that didn't even take the brunt of the storm. But for a lot of the folks living in smaller communities along the Gulf Coast, the impact of Ike was much, much worse," he wrote in a feature for MTV.

He added that the impact of Ike continues.

"It's easy to bring the cameras one day after the storm, two days after the storm. But what about a week after the storm? Two weeks? Some people are just getting back home, just starting to deal with the reality of what's happened. And that's what I wanted to show everyone: what it's like when the cameras leave, and these people in these smaller communities are left to deal with the devastation."

Although Bun did not want to place blame anywhere in particular, he did speak on some of the issues with the circumstances.

"Some of the people we saw were understandably frustrated. They had been displaced for 10-14 days, and the uncertainty of it all was probably too much for anyone to handle, let alone if you're someone with children or trying to take care of your family. I don't want to discredit anyone — FEMA and a lot of the city and state agencies did a decent job getting people organized and getting people on buses out of town. A lot of lives were most likely saved. But I'm not exactly sure how far their plans extended once they did get them out of town. Maybe they were thinking they'd have evacuees for three, four days at most. I don't think they were thinking of having people for one to two weeks."

Part of the inspiration he got came from the communities that stuck together to help each other out of rough times.

"In each city we went to, it was clear that people were coming together to take care of each other. These are the people who have the least amount to work with in the beginning, the least amount of resources with which to rebuild. If they're feeling that the city, state or FEMA aren't taking care of them during the evacuation, they definitely come together and help each other out. It's a community base in these small towns. People are very close, and you're only separated from each other by one or two people, it seems like. People are used to having to pool resources to make something happen, so when something like this hurricane hits, all they can do is rely on each other."

Bun finished his piece by simply advising people not to forget about the victims of the hurricane.

Arianna Huffington: VP Debate: McCain's Big Gamble Comes Up Snake Eyes

Watching the debate at a Fortune women's conference, I asked Meg Whitman, the co-chair of McCain's campaign, what she thought of Palin's performance. "Good enough," she said. But good enough for what, exactly? After Thursday night, the only thing Palin proved herself good enough for is starring in her own reality show. Watching Biden and Palin on the same stage was like watching a tennis champion walk onto Centre Court at Wimbledon only to find himself facing an over-eager amateur from the local high school. The only subject on which Palin displayed superior knowledge was when she corrected Biden on the proper delivery of "Drill, baby, drill!" Christie Hefner thought Palin's sex-tinged twist on the chant should be appropriated for a commercial. Perhaps for Viagra. My patience with Sarah Palin is waving the white flag of surrender.

The Mainstream's Love For Hip Hop's Underground

Author: J-23
Back in the late '90s there was a sizemic shift in the Hip Hop landscape. The "golden era" had slowly faded away as the "shiny suit" and "bling" era respectively took the spotlight. The days of major labels signing anyone who could rhyme words for 16 bars were gone, as were the days signing rappers that wouldn't or couldn't rap about money and bitches. Those who wouldn't confirm took to the independent game and the fans who wanted to go back to the days where style and substance had equal weight followed along.

Channel 73 on the Dish Network is now The Obama Channel

Channel 73 on the Dish Network is now The Obama Channel.

Obama's media buying strategy has been marked by a willingness to work the angles, and to try to pick up a few votes at the margins. The decision to go to everything from extensive radio buys to odd-hour infomercials reflects the fact that the campaign media buyers spend a lot of time thinking about how much persuasion any given dollar can buy, and given a very cheap format -- late night cable channels that need filler, for instance -- will settle for a thimblefull of persuasion.

The satellite channel is the latest of these marginal gambits: Three readers from different parts of the country email that Channel 073-00 on the Dish Network is now labeled OBAMA. ("What is up with Sen. Obama having his own channel?" asks a St. Louis reader.) The channel plays his two-minute ad laying out his economic plan on a loop, over and over.

Jay-Z urges voters in Michigan and Florida to register and Barack the vote. Hip Hop artists have not been afraid to reciprocate the love. Rapper Jay-Z, one of Obama’s long time supporters, has scheduled to put on two free shows this weekend in Detroit and Miami in order to gain support for the Obama Campaign.
