Venezuela to build nuclear technology with Russia
By: CHRISTOPHER TOOTHAKER, Associated Press Writer Sun Sep 28, 10:39 PM ET
CARACAS, Venezuela - President Hugo Chavez said Sunday that Russia will help Venezuela develop nuclear energy — a move likely to raise U.S. concerns over increasingly close cooperation between Caracas and Moscow. Chavez said he accepted an offer from Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin for assistance in building a nuclear reactor.news.yahoo.com
No quick end to gas shortage in Southeast
ATLANTA — A storm-related gas shortage in the Southeast that has left some places bone-dry and others with two-hour gas lines is expected to continue for at least another two weeks, energy experts and industry officials say.
The shortage began two weeks after Hurricane Gustav hit the oil-refining regions of the Gulf Coast on Sept. 1. Operations that shut down before that storm were just coming back online when Hurricane Ike hit, forcing another shutdown. The gas shortage, now in its third week, is particularly acute here in sprawling Atlanta, in Nashville in parts of the Carolinas and in Anniston, Ala.

Did you get this email..don't forget to leave the Obama Gear at Home?
"PLEASE ADVISE EVERYONE YOU KNOW THAT THEY ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT GO TO THE POLLS WEARING ANY OBAMA SHIRTS, PINS OR HATS. IT IS AGAINST THE LAW AND WILL BE GROUNDS TO HAVE THE POLLING OFFICIALS TO TURN YOU AWAY.
THAT IS CONSIDERED CAMPAIGNING AND NO ONE CAN CAMPAIGN WITHIN X AMOUNT OF FEET TO THE POLLS. THEY ARE BANKING ON US BEING EXCITED AND NOT BEING AWARE OF THIS LONG STANDING LAW THAT YOU CAN BET WILL BE ENFORCED THIS YEAR!
THEY ARE BANKING THAT IF YOU ARE TURNED AWAY YOU WILL NOT GO HOME AND CHANGE YOUR CLOTHES. PLEASE JUST DON'T WEAR OBAMA GEAR OF ANY SORTS TO THE POLLS!! PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION."
Here's the deal: first off, every state's law is different on this one, and things can diverge on the county or local level as well.
It is true that (a) that jurisdictions can constitutionally ban the wearing of campaign stickers/buttons/t-shirts in and around polling places, and (b) many jurisdictions do so. On (a), the legal eagles among us can review this 2001 DC Circuit opinion, which maintained that such viewpoint-neutral restrictions are constitutional means of protecting the orderly conduct of elections, creating "a neutral zone within the polling place, preventing altercations over hot-button issues, intimidation of voters, eleventh hour smear campaigns and the like," and safeguarding citizens' ability to "vote freely for the candidates of their choice ... in an election conducted with integrity and reliability."
That states can bar such speech (and most have, as far as I know) doesn't mean they have to, and in my Pennsylvania, things are up in the air. My friends at the ACLU of Pennsylvania have persuaded the Secretary of State to send out this letter (PDF) to all 67 county boards of election, encouraging them to allow citizens to wear such paraphenalia and not send them home. Some will, while other counties will continue to enforce such restrictions. Moreover, the state GOP is pushing back with a lawsuit, seeking to establish a uniform state law on this that would bar such items at the polls:

A Shout Out to Adero Part 2
When I arrived to Atlanta Adero introduced me to Benny Frank and Sage from Chicago. Soon after we formed the group "Central Division". I took on the monstrous task of managing the group. We accomplished a lot performing at a majority of the venues in Atlanta & surrounding areas....including Louisiana and Texas....the "Central" received press in online and print magazines. The single "Windy City" from the self titled "Central Division" CD appeared on "Hoodz: Street Armageddon (2004)" along with heavy rotation on the radio. The reviews varied but most critics dubbed Adero as the front man but the humble dude he is, he downed played the controversy and media hype.In 2005 “Central Division” began recording their second Album “Just US”. They made some appearances blessing venues in the Atlanta's Buckhead area before the powers that be decided to turn it into a commercial district. The last live performance by the Central was in “2006” at the Apache Cafe's Mic Club. Unfortunately the stresses of everyday life took a toll on the “Central” and the CD was never released.
Around the same time Adero was introduced to one of Chicago's Super Producers Mogie Israel, by a mutual friend. At that time Adero was working on “Def Before Dishonor” but after meeting Mr. Israel....the synergy took them to new heights and they began recording “The Social-Lite”. I mean the title is so fitting, really this guy is known from the southside of the Chi to the AUC....you can find him at MJQ's on Fridays and the Velvet room on Sundays.......He's very social but does it lightly...get it! I asked AD what can we expect from “The Social-Lite”, he responded by saying that it would be very soulful and there would be a variety of topics, rhymes, sounds.....and that he would take us on a musical quest. I also asked him about his stage show? “I will be performing with a live band featuring Mark Space and new comer Charlie Rose”. Adero stated that this will be his last CD and he will be focusing on developing other talents. If I appear to be bias...well I am....that's my boy and a true pioneer of hip hop.

Investigator: Palin probe to end before election
Kanye West Working Away On 808's & Heartbreak
Kanye West has been busy working on his new album, 808's and Heartbreak for some time now. He's revealed that his album is set to be released before year's end and he has even released the first single, "Love Lockdown" [click to listen]. Now, he's blogging about this and the alleged release date showdown that he may re create with 50 Cent.
"I just woke up from a quick studio nap," he wrote in his blog this week. "I've been workin' on 808s and Heartbreak about 16 hours a day and [I] passed out for a little bit ... I'm in Hawaii but I'm still on New York time so I wake up mad early, do some business, blog, jog for an hour, play ball, eat and then hit the stu [sic] by noon. While approving the final cut for the 'Love Lockdown' vid, I marvel at the fact that it was written less than three weeks ago."
hiphopdx.comBaggy Pants Law Ruled Unconstitutional
In the latest battle over how low a person can wear pants, a Florida judge struck down a law banning baggy pants, calling the measure unconstitutional, according to an Associated Press report.
The measure was initially approved by voters, and voted on last March, after the necessary 5,000 signatures were obtained to add the measure to the ballot.
Despite passage of the measure, the issue did not take center stage until a 17-year-old was arrested in Riviera Beach in southeast Florida for wearing pants that exposed his underwear. The teen, not identified by name, was jailed overnight.
A local report says the teen was held due to a history of marijuana use.
The judge in the case, Palm Beach Circuit Judge Paul Moyle was simply not having it.
“We're not talking about exposure of buttocks,” Moyle said in his ruling. “No! We're talking about someone who has on pants whose underwear are apparently visible to a police officer who then makes an arrest and the basis is he's then held overnight, no bond."
The teen’s public defender added that “we now have the fashion police,” to which, the judge agreed.
If the law had been upheld, the teen would have faced 150 hours of community service and a fine.

What is the Bush Doctrine?
The Bush Doctrine is a term used to describe various related foreign policy principles of United States president George W. Bush, enunciated in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks. The phrase initially described the policy that the United States had the right to treat countries that harbor or give aid to terrorist groups as terrorists themselves, which was used to justify the invasion of Afghanistan.[1] Later it came to include additional elements, including the controversial policy of preventive war, which held that the United States should depose foreign regimes that represented a supposed threat to the security of the United States, even if that threat was not immediate (used to justify the invasion of Iraq), a policy of supporting democracy around the world, especially in the Middle East, as a strategy for combating the spread of terrorism, and a willingness to pursue U.S. military interests in a unilateral way.[2][3][4] Some of these policies were codified in a National Security Council text entitled the National Security Strategy of the United States published on September 20, 2002.[5] This represented a dramatic shift from the United States's Cold War policies of deterrence and containment, under the Truman Doctrine, and a departure from post-Cold War philosophies such as the Powell Doctrine and the Clinton Doctrine.

A Shout Out to Adero
I was introduced to hip hop in the late 70's by my sister...she used play Kurtis Blow's "The Breaks" every Sunday after Church. We lived on the Southside of Chicago in the Englewood area which was still devastated by the 1968 Martain Luther King riots. Hip hop in it's early stage was a tool for expressing social and economical ills that was prevalent in the communities that we lived in. Fortunately my family moved further east on 81st & Cornell....which in my eyes was a lot better than Engelwood. I attended Charles P. Caldwell elementary school near 87th & Stoney Island Ave. New to the neighborhood I had to identify with something and that something was hip hop.In 1984 I met this kid by the name of Adero, A.D. is what we called him. A very easy going dude... we immediately took to each other...the common denominator was hip hop. From 4th to 8th grade we were known for rocking talent shows from 87th street to Ogden Park. Over the 20 year span I focused more on the promoting, managing, and advocating for hip hop...Adero has spent his time crafting his skills as a MC. Adero and I always kept in touch on a friendship level but not musically....that's until 1999. That's when I got a call from our close friend Anthony..."yo..your boy A.D. is nice"....a week later I received "A New Beginning", Adero's debut CD and it blew me away. The CD was full of classic hits such "Break the Chains", "Hostile", and "Why I Rhyme". I was instantly on the team...at the time I was living in Dallas TX and that's where I got my training as a manager. I was pushing hard the single "Buildin" from the "New Beginning" CD. The single was getting a good response & was in constant rotation on Dallas's KNON 89.3FM. A year later I moved to Atlanta.
When I arrived to Atlanta Adero introduced me to Benny Frank and Sage from Chicago. Soon after we formed the group "Central Division". I took on the monstrous task of managing the group. We accomplished a lot performing at majority of the venues in Atlanta & surrounding areas....including Louisiana and Texas....the "Central" received press in online and print magazines. Jon Carson, BarackObama.com
This week at the Republican convention, John McCain and his surrogates attacked Barack Obama and mocked the power of community organizing. They sneered at the idea that people like you can play a crucial role in turning this country around.
The Republicans just don't get it. Our movement was built by ordinary people working together in their communities -- and that's how we're going to win on Election Day.
We have a new tool called Neighbor to Neighbor that makes it easier than ever to connect with potential supporters in your community. It allows you to reach out to your fellow voters by making phone calls or knocking on doors -- the choice is yours.
Learn more and start making a difference in your neighborhood right now.
Barack is making history by competing in every corner of the country.
It's an aggressive strategy, and only you can make it work. No one knows your community better than you -- and no one is better suited to strengthen our movement from the bottom up.Neighbor to Neighbor gives you a list of potential supporters in your community, suggested topics to talk about, and an easy way to report back on who you've contacted.
With less than nine weeks till Election Day, we need to act now. Reach out in your community and build this movement for change:http://my.barackobama.com/n2n You've owned this campaign from the very start. By making a few phone calls or knocking on a few doors today, you'll own it more than ever before.
Thanks,

COMMON SENSE: The EMERGENCE...The RESSURECTION...The INVINCIBLE (CHI-TOWN'S FINEST EMCEE 360)
I First met dude back in 92'....like right after "Can I Borrow a Dollar" first came out. When it hit the streets I remember "Take It EZ" was real dope, but it was that remix version of "Soul By tha Pound" that was that HEAT! I was pretty familiar with who the nigga was already...you know he was doing his thing around town and all ...but it was brought to my attention that we had a few mutual friends -(shouts out 2 Mike & Blood Dro..87). So, Rashid really start blowin up after all the Source "Unsigned Hype" shit ...getting signed to Relativity and them first 2 albums. By the time his classic "Ressurection" actually dropped, dude was pretty much bonafide and nationally known already! The only other rapper from tha crib at that point in time that was making some noise was Twista. It was then that my Uncle -Ben Kendrick showed me that he went to college at Wilberforce with Rashid's dad...and that they not only played hoops together on the squad ...but he pledged Lonnie Sr. for Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity inc. I was like shit ....since it's such a small fuckin world, see if u can get me on that nigga's next album...or at least in the studio with this kat (know whut I'm talkin bout)... I mean since I was a young, premiere, well-groomed South Side emcee myself.
Anyway... so nothin ever came of it ....next thing I remember we was all back off to college and the homie Mike told me that this nigga Rashid is coming down to tha "A" for a show and was probably gonna be stayin at our crib. So I'm like cool ...another opportunity to build with this dude and see what he on and shit ..right? So boom...he get there -we take in some tunes on our way down to see some chicks at tha AUC...grabbed some patties & cocoa bread from the Jamaican spot then bounced to see the first cuts of his video for the now world re-known classic "I Used To Love H.E.R". Later that night -went to the show.. that nigga rocked it ...he kicked a freestyle and threw my name in it since I was upfront ...but it wasn't like he was gonna let me on stage so I could get at that crowd and shit....u know show em' what i had or whatever.
Over the next several years as Common's career progressed he often came through A-Town to show luv ....rippin down shows ...showin love to the hoes (oooops! ...I meant women).....and then there was this 1 show like a few years back at the Tabernacle. We was all backstage in his lil lounge area and some lil nigga just stood up like i'm trying to be a rapper and started spittin some str8 BULLSHIT! So ya boy ADERO went in afta him and thoroughly destroyed that idot 4 opening his mouth ...may not have even been 16 bars...didn't have to ...then dude was like -aww maan u was on that ol' lyrical shit! Excuse me dip-shit ...ain't that what this hip hop shit is supposed to be all about?...we in COM SENSE dressing room not Lil John's. So that was my lil night or whatever...Rashid bigged me up and thas what it was...an Audio Memior.
Truth be told ...I shot Com a copy of the "CENTRAL DIVISION" very 1st album that night and the nigga said since it was my shit ..... he would to listen to it since he usually don't do that shit. Nigga ain't neva holla back though ...it's all love ....wasn't like I was asking 4 handouts ...but how about maybe just a lil jump-start? -lil 8 or 12 bars or sumthin on just 1 album or mixtape!! See Rashid.... I ain't "Dart Most" or "Sean Lett" ...yeah thas right.. I said it! I would've definately turned "my opportuity" into a career just as golden as yours ...and could have easily taken CHICAGO to tha "TIP TOP BABY" right along with u... Kanye and Twista!
So in close ....ain't no hatred or ill feelings ...on tha real fo real -u don't owe me shit! -Plus every single time u come 4 a show u always make sure niggas is taken care of ... I appreciate that shit my guy ...u still a REAL ass nigga...as a matter-of-fact it ain't nothin but LUV over here and u should know it! My guy- COMMON SENSE ....well my nigga hope ya album does exceptionally well...which I'm sure it will ..I wish u nothin but continued success..."Plat and all that"...you are definately flyin high and sky's the limit ol' boy! U deserve it more than anyone... 16 almost 17 yrs in the making -your creativity and longevity has indeed made u "INVINCIBLE"- Thas it ...Thas all ..."It dun been 1 joe" ....Luv u my nigga! -Keep On.... Shinning Star- YESSSUH!

Michael Moore to release new film online for free
By JAKE COYLE – 3 hours ago
NEW YORK (AP) — Inspired by Neil Young and Radiohead, Michael Moore will release his new film online and for free.
The film, "Slacker Uprising," follows Moore's 62-city tour during the 2004 election to rally young voters. It will be available for three weeks as a free download to North American residents, beginning Sept. 23. An official announcement of the film is planned for Friday.
Moore said he considered releasing "Slacker Uprising" theatrically as "Michael Moore's big election year movie" as he did with 2004's "Fahrenheit 9/11," which was highly critical of President Bush.
Instead, Moore opted for a symbol of gratitude to his fans as he approaches the 20th anniversary of his first film, 1989's "Roger & Me."
"I thought it'd be a nice way to celebrate my 20th year of doing this," Moore said. "And also help get out the vote for November. I've been thinking about what I want to do to help with the election this year."
The 97-minute long "Slacker Uprising" will be the first major film to be released in such a way. Last December, "Jackass 2.5" was streamed online and for free, but that was only a collection of left over material from "Jackass 2." Companies like ClickStar, which Morgan Freeman co-founded, have made films still in theaters — such as 2006's "10 Items or Less" — digitally available for purchase or rental.
Experimentation in distribution has been more common in the music industry, where the Internet has significantly damaged traditional business models. Moore took notice when Radiohead last year released their seventh album, "In Rainbows," online with optional pricing. In 2006, Neil Young streamed his anti-war album "Living With War" for free before its standard release — now a more common practice.
If history is any measure, "Slacker Uprising" could have made a decent sum in theaters. His last two films, "Sicko" ($24 million) and "Fahrenheit 9/11" ($119 million) are two of the three highest grossing documentaries ever.
Moore said that "Slacker Uprising" cost about $2 million to make and that he will end up paying about $1 million out of his pocket. Neither he nor the distributor, Brave New Films, plan to profit from the release.
The director's last film, "Sicko," leaked online and was downloaded illegally in large numbers. He says this download, offered by BlipTV, will be high-resolution and far better than "YouTube quality."
To receive the download, people can sign up at SlackerUprising.com. A "Night of a Thousand House Parties" is planned for Oct. 4, when local neighborhood screenings are hoped to be scheduled. A DVD will be released Oct. 7.
Moore last week released a paperback book, "Mike's Election Guide 2008" and is currently working on a movie for theatrical release next year. That film is expected to examine America as an empire, but the director declined to discuss any details about it.
For now, Moore hopes "Slacker Uprising" will help spur young people to vote this November. After more than 20 million 18 to 29-year-olds cast ballots in 2004 (an 11 percent increase from 2000), he's hoping even greater numbers of "slackers" vote this year.
Moore readily acknowleges this a film for Democrats.
"This film, really isn't for anybody other than the choir," said Moore. "But that's because I believe the choir needs a song to sing every now and then."

The RNC was scary!!!!
Last night I checked out the Republican National Convention. I attempted to have an open mind but their message wasn't for me or the majority of Americans. At first glance the RNC was full of a selected few. The RNC made the best case for the Democrats "more of the same". The speeches that Bush and Thompson made were given in a very angry tone, the message I received was that America is "their country" as evident by those that attended the convention and the theme of the convention..."country first". Is the End of Unlimited Internet Near?
By KI MAE HEUSSNERSept. 1, 2008
ABC News
Comcast, Frontier and Time Warner Cable Are Moving Toward Imposing Internet Usage Caps.
Last week, Comcast -- the second-largest Internet service provider in the country -- announced that starting Oct. 1 it would officially set a threshold for monthly Internet usage.
In an online announcement, the service provider said that although it already contacts residential customers who use excessive amounts of bandwidth, it had never provided a specific limit. Now, Comcast said it will amend its user agreement to say that users will be allowed 250 gigabytes of monthly usage. The company emphasizes that its cap is generous and will only affect about 1 percent of its 14.4 million customers. Experts say these customers might include heavy gamers and those who use a significant amount of bandwidth for creating or uploading video.
But industry watchers note that Comcast's decision is indicative of a trend by Internet service providers to move toward usage-based service plans.
Palin G.O.P. Scandals
I don't think the point is that Palin's 17 year old daughter Bristol is pregnant...shit happens, I think the bigger issue is the Conservatives and Republican hypocrisy...examples.....
Mark Foley (U.S. Representative) -Sending sexually laced, grammatically challenged instant messages and e-mails to teenage boys in the Congressional page program for more than 10 years. (September 28, 2006)
Ted Haggard (Leader of the National Association of Evangelicals)-Paying male prostitutes for sex and snorting crystal meth. (November 2006)
Larry Craig (U.S. Senator Senate Liaison for Mitt Romney’s Presidential Campaign)- Soliciting sex from an undercover cop in an airport bathroom. (June 11, 2007)
Bob Allen (Member of the Florida House of Representatives Florida Chairman of John McCain’s Presidential Campaign) Offering an undercover cop $20 to allow Allen to blow him in a men’s room in a public park. After being arrested, Allen tried to explain that he only offered to blow the cop because the cop was a “burly black man” and he “didn’t want to become a statistic.” (July 11, 2007)
Glenn Murphy Jr. (National Chairman of the Young Republicans Chairman of the Clark County Republican Party)- Murphy got a fellow Young Republican drunk and then spent the night at his house. The other young man woke up in the middle of the night to find Murphy giving him mouth-to-penis resuscitation. After this incident, a 1998 sexual battery report came to light in which Murphy was alleged to have done the exact same thing. (July 28, 2007). badmouth.net
I'm sick and tired of these right wing talk show hosts talking their righteous borderline racist rhetoric.... the vetting process is not over for Palin....I'm putting money on this...more bones are going to start flyin' out of her mouth!!!

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
I just heard that Hot 107.9 today got rid of the morning show, the A Team, consisting of , Griff, Rashan Ali, Beyonce, Akini and Emperor Searcy. (From two sources, I hear Rashan will do mid-days and Searcy will go back to late afternoons, but I’m not sure what happens to Beyonce and Akini. Griff’s publicist confirmed that he is out.)
