McCain campaign launched the latest and lowest in a series of misleading attack ads.

Rollie --

As we face the fundraising deadline at midnight tonight, I want you to know what we are up against.

Less than 24 hours ago, the McCain campaign launched the latest and lowest in a series of misleading attack ads.

This Karl Rove-style ploy misleads people about Barack's energy plan and even mocks his ability to inspire voters and bring Americans back into the political process.

Watchdogs in the media are calling McCain's accusations "bogus," "desperate," "wrong," "misleading," "ugly," "offensive," "reckless," and "a nasty turn into the gutter."

Some of McCain's own supporters agree. One senior Republican strategist quoted by the Washington Post called the latest ad a "wild swing at Obama" that reflects his campaign's "increasing bitterness" and the lack of "any coherent strategy to elect McCain."

Even John Weaver, a strategist who worked for McCain's presidential campaign in 2000 and on his current campaign last year, called the ad "childish," adding that this negative strategy "diminishes John McCain" and "needs to stop."

But we will not let any attack stand. Barack himself responded quickly and forcefully, and within hours our campaign created a response ad to take their smear tactics head-on.

Make a donation of $5 or more now to get our response on the air and show the McCain campaign that there is a cost to this kind of negative politics.

A Shout Out to Jules Nelson

The word on the street is that we here at 48Bars are bias because majority of our shouts out are dedicated to the ladies. In our efforts to quiet our critics this week’s “Shout Out” goes to Jules Nelson, a fellow Gramblinite and my brother in the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Jules and I met a few years back when I received a call from him to inform me that he had an interest in the music industry. I asked him a few questions and he indicated that he was not pursuing a music career to become the next “one hit wonder”, and that he is here lay he claim as the future of R&B. A proud American of Haitian descent Jules has been performing publicly since the age of 12. Mr. Nelson simply goes by the name “Jules”, da Son of South Florida, R&B Haitian Prince.

Jules is very dedicated to his craft and has performed at a number of venues, such as Club Whyte Noise, Club Metropolis, Club Studio A, Sobelive, the Broward County Sistrunk Festival, the list goes on. Currently Jules has the number one requested song on the Miami underground circuit call “Creole Dream”. DJ NickyMixx (Miami), DJ Stakz (NY), and Shannon Levingston (TX) has all caught the “Creole Dream” flu and has the song in heavy rotation. After asking Jules what he has going on right now he stated that “currently I am in my BUZZ stage, I am creating a name for myself and hopefully the RIGHT people will want to work with me”. To hear “Creole Dream” and to learn more about Jules go his Myspace at myspace.com/julesmusiq.

Ayanna my homegirl from the Chi, I call her my lil sis, we went to Curie (IL) together, we went to Grambling(LA) together, and she is my sorority sister...anyway she hit me with the link to Lupe Fiasco's "He Say, She Say" video, my favorite song on his first CD. Apparently she posted this video which she appears in on our college alumni site...well she explaines the rest.....

"the video on my page is a song from lupe fiasco's first cd. this is the first draft video we were able to shoot for this song before his album got caught up in legal stuff with the lable. so, it never got released. i got messages from people saying that they saw it and i didn't believe it until i found it on youtube. so, long story short...that's not my poetry, that's lupe's work. but thanks for the other compliments"

Young Jeezy Ft. Kanye West-I Put On Video

A Shout Out to Erika Kendrick aka "The Cheerleader Is For Sale"

    "A Renaissance Woman" : Young - Black - Intelligent - Beautiful

First off let me start by saying cuz I love u 2 def ........and I know what all u horny hard-leg dudes looking and reading this shit right now is thinking.... damn ol' girl is a hottie ...I wonder wus up with her?? Aww.. so sorry ..not gonna happen! -I don't care how old we get she still my lil sis. I don't wanna have to whip no-body's ass ya dig .....believe me I have and will! Ok, sorry E .....just had to let these catz know the time -so lets see where do I begin? After recently inking a (2) book deal with Random House , the first of which -"Confessions of a Rookie Cheerleader"- already released (Spr07'-in stores now) with rave reviews... Erika is prepped for her second offering. This Stanford grad and of course Chicago native really delivers her first time out giving a very descriptive, insightful yet sexy & intriguing depiction of the life behind the scenes for a NBA Cheerleader.

Having first-hand experience being an ex-cheerleader for the World Famous "CHICAGO BULLS" -during the GOD of b-ball yrs (we owned the 90's!)- I would say was invaluable in this process. Prior to becoming a successful author Erika has delved in and accomplished so so much, it would quite honestly be kinda hard to list them all! I'll shoot yall a few off the dome real quick to wrap it up....let's see, cuzo has worked for a very lengthy period in the entertainment bizz - I know she did a stint over at DEF JAM, she is currently the host /emcee for WOMEN WHO JAM (NYC) , she is also the television host over at High Profile Entertainment for "WHAT WOMEN WANT PRIMETIME" (NYC), Oh yeah... I almost forgot to mention that my cuz is the reigning President for the New York chapter of the NABFEME (National Assoc of Black Female Executives in Music and Entertainment)... Wow! Yes ladies and gents ......members of my fam always got it poppin, we are contributing factors .....to our communities........ and to the world! -Peace & LUV E.. see ya soon!

    Rick Ross is a fake?

Now I try hard not to post the typical stuff that you may get on other blogs, but I couldn't pass this up...my man hit me with this one.....

    F. C. I.
Now when I say F.C.I. .......i'm not talking about Federal Correctional Institution or Rick Ross aka William L. Roberts facing real life fed time ....naw -it ain't even nothin like that! I'm talking about F.C.I.-"Fraudulent Comprised Imagery" ....a term that I came up with to accurately describe all you "fake-ass wannabe gangsta - phoney fa sad ass studio imposters!" Ok ..so it has brought to my attention that ya boy Ricky Ross -"tha Biggest Boss" is not the dope dealing druglord or street thug kingpin he claims to be at all. Instead news is surfacing all over the net with not only pics of this dude but work records that show that William L. Roberts was a Corrections Officer ( or CO ) for the South Florida Reception Center of Dade County from late 95'-summer 97'. Well ..well..well now....the irony of this shit here! You see its cats like this that really create a problem for me in hip hop today. I mean , ok on some real shit .....if you are a rapper and you honestly grew up in the hood really living the life of a "REAL" street thug -and believe me I know real thugs maybe not Pablo like ya boy claim but the South Side city of Chi where I was raised got it all - and thas what you rap about then I HONOR that because its real....its truth. But if you ain't nothin more than a "contrived - gimmick" to sale records then I DO NOT HONOR that! I mean think about how impressionable our kids are these days, especially with hip hop being the multi-cultural phenomena that it has become. What lil Jada say to Caine in MENACE II SOCIETY..... "I don't want my son learning to pull drive-bys." A CO can yall believe this? ...hmm -so thas where this dude got all of his material from ....lockin up the real "Bosses"... hey Rick who was in cell block "two twenty-two's?"

    Obama's American Judgment

So I’m surfing YouTube about two months ago and I came across an Obama speech. The podium read “Judgment”. Now I’m first to admit that I’m not the greatest speller in the world, thanking God for spell check, it’s so funny my spell check doesn’t recognize Obama’s name, it suggests Osama. My wife noticed the spelling of the word first. I told her that the Obama camp is too fresh to make a mistake like that, but hey things happen. Two weeks ago I saw the same spelling of the word, so now I’m like, it’s time for me to go to my artificial intelligence: GOOGLE’s search engine. So I googled “Obama’s judgment”. Come to find out “Judgement” is the British spelling and “judgment” is the American way of spelling the word.

America is a capitalistic society and it appears that the Obama camp understands that. His team among other things has a great marketing strategy and uses the internet to its advantage. From using the internet as a major component of his campaign, to switching the U.S. seal , and correcting the spelling of the word judgment. During the primary election I would checkout Hillary Clinton’s website and it appeared so 90’s compared to Obama’s site. Or how I saw a report that the McCain camp did their rendition of “pimp my ride” on his “straight talk express” bus to get the young vote.

You have “greats” in everything, you have the greatest entertainer, the greatest athlete, the greatest educator, and I think that Obama could possibly be the greatest politician in the history of America. Obama has and will continue to make mistakes, but I appreciate that he can admit when he does. Along with other attributes, I think that is the key element that gives Obama the human appeal.

Saturday morning I pitched my tent in Wade Walker Park for the 7th Dekalb county Blues and Jazz festival. There were plenty of activities for the children such as a carnival ride and a verity of games, Kaiser Permante was the title sponsor. When I got there it was about 92 degrees but the clouds came and stayed to about 5pm. I got to see Confunksion perform and the highlight of my day was DeKalb County CEO Vernon Jones, who is also running for Senate. He took over the mic during intermission. His stand-up act consisted playing the dozens with the crowd and doing his own rendition of Teddy Pendergrass "Love T.K.O". Hey Vernon if the political thing doesn't work out, try comedy because you are hilarious!

    Project Stop the Woowoptie!

Hello young world, in conjunction with Obama’s campaign of change I’m launching “Project Stop the Woowoptie”. You may be asking, what is the Woowoptie? It has been around since the beginning of time, there have been stories of it written in biblical texts, and even you have been a victim and have been guilty of the Woowoptie. There has been mention of it by Kanye in “Flashing Lights”, “then I hit her with the ole woowoptie”, even Badu made reference to it in her hit song “Honey”, “I don’t fall for the wooptie wu”. Americans has experienced some of the biggest Woowopties in recent years, the 2000 presidential election, FEMA’s response to hurricane Katrina, the war in Iraq, and more recently the current gas prices. Judge not before you judge yourself, I have an average of 10 Woowopties a month but that number is gradually decreasing. The Woowoptie is giving someone the run around, being less than truthful, it is very contagious and it don’t stop! Please join me in “Project Stop the Woowoptie”, the Woowoptie stops with you!

Erykah Badu & Jay Electronica Expecting Child?

Erykah gets some folks straight after news of her suspected pregnancy by artist Jay Electronica hit. I guess some people said some dumb sh*t about her having too many baby fathers and she gave them the business in her response. Question, if love is the strongest emotion, why not share it with more than one lover? I know I'm going to hear it for that one.

How Fresh is That? True Religion Jeans

Kanye West: "man I promise I'm so self conscious" ....." and I can't even go to the grocery store without some Ones that's clean and a shirt with a team", lyrics from "All Falls Down".

My Chicago brother struck a nerve with that one. As "conscious" as I try to be, I'm very self conscious about what I wear and having a "style". With that said I have dedicated "How Fresh is That?" to those who cares about what they wear.

True Religion Brand are designer Jeans ranging from $170 to $350. The jeans are so hot they've became the target of the smash-and-grab burglaries in the metro Atlanta area. Do I own a pair? No! Would I buy a pair? Yes! Why? "Just to be like ni#%a you ain't up on this!".

A Shout Out to La Shan Knox

One of the reasons I started this blog was to some way help those who I have met in my life on their quest to accomplish their dreams. This week’s Shout Out goes to my fellow Gramblinite La Shan Knox. My sista is world-shattering, refined, witty, down to earth, and a steadfast creative thinker. We met in Grambling back in 1993. She's a very charming individual that gets under my skin and I can assure you that I do the same to her, I guest you could say that we have a Martin and Pam relationship. Shan is a “trippy” kinda my own personal Freddy from “A Different World”.
    I admire
Shan for plenty of reasons, she is my wife’s dearest friend and she has accomplished something on my to do list. La Shan has published her first book “Still Standing” Volume One with Elle Nubia Press out of Los Angeles. “Still Standing” is a book of thought provoking poems that hits homes on an array of topics. Here’s an excerpt from "Hard Knox" the first poem in her book, being judge and stoned by past due bills and creditors E-mailed tons of resumes and cover letters, yet still trapped in a maze”, how fitting is that in regards to the struggle in today's ailing economy?

La Shan has worked in the film industry for years grinding in Atlanta, New York, coast to coast LA to Chicago. She is a very talented writer who has written stage and screenplays. Originally from Louisiana, she currently lives and is working on a movie in Cali. La Shan has aspirations to write and direct a motion picture of her own, with her ambition and work ethic I can see that happening in the very near future.

Bernie Mack's Joke at Obama's Fundrasier

Chicago's very own Bernie Mack tells a joke that rubbed the crowd the wrong way at an Obama fundraiser, maybe it was inappropriate for the event, but is was funny!

His nephew came to him and asked the difference between a hypothetical question and a realistic question.

To demonstrate the difference, he tells the nephew to go ask his mother if she would make love to the mailman for $50,000. The mother says she would make love to the mailman and anybody else for $50,000.

He tells the nephew to go ask his sister if she would make love with her neighbor for $50,000. She says she would make love with the neighbor and anybody else for $50,000.

So he tells the nephew: “Hypothetically speaking, we should have $100,000. But realistically speaking we live with two hos,” Bernie Mac said.

    The New World Order

I've been listening to Warren Balentine on 102.5 Grown Folks Radio here in Atlanta and he's been talking a lot about the New World Order. The first time I heard of the NWO was from the wrestling federation, but I soon learned the true meaning. What sparked my interest was Tupac Shakur, especially with the title of his CD at the time of his death " The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory", Get it? Kill Illuminati!

I first read The New World Order by, Ralph Epperson about 10 years ago, and since then I have seen much of what the book spoke on come into fruition. Like most conspiracy or historical books I read, I correlate them with biblical texts. When speaking of the NWO just read the final book of the Bible "Revelations" also called "Revelation to John".

The law, which creates a felony DUI charge for repeat offenders who have up to four drunk-driving convictions on a 10-year driving record, is being introduced during Operation Zero-Tolerance, a statewide crackdown on drunk driving.

The new law also requires first-time offenders to a undergo drug and alcohol evaluation and depending on the results, offenders must participate in strict, court-supervised substance-abuse treatment. Under the old law drug, alcohol evaluations were only required for second and subsequent offenses.

    Ice-T and Soulja Boy

I have debated with myself and my closest partners about this "misunderstanding" between Ice-T and Soulja Boy. When I started this blog I made a promise not to promote any negativity in Hip Hop. It is my strong belief that the "East Coast Vs. West Coast" beef was created by the media, i.e Vibe and the Source Magazine. When you think about it, we're paying more at the pump, food prices are at a all time high, and America is in a recession, does what Ice-T and Soulja Boy thinks really matters?

I have listen and recited both artists material, Ice-T's "6n the Mornin'" from the 1987 Rhymes Pays CD to "Crank Dat Soulja Boy" from the Souljaboytellem.com CD. I have viewed both of their disputes on Youtube. I know it's gonna sound like I'm straddling the fence on this one but they both have points.

I understand that Ice-T feels that Souljaboy creates mindless music and I empathize with Souljaboy 's response about how he's just doing him. I think the greater responsibility falls on Ice-T. You see Ice- T has made millions on music talking about hustling, pimpin, you get the picture? It's kinda of strange that of all artist he felt obligated to ridicule someone? What is the lesson from all this? I think El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz said it best when he stated that the 'Chickens Come Home To Roost'.
